Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Nelson Wayne Penwell, 71, a resident of the Vermont Veterans Home, died on Sunday, July 18, 2004, following a brief illness.

He was born in West Virginia on April 10, 1933 and was the son of Bruce and Margaret (Panter) Penwell. He received his education in West Virginia. He served with the Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Penwell had been employed as a boiler worker for many years, at different manufacturing plants. He enjoyed listening to country music and playing guitar. It is believed that Mr. Penwell is survived by one sister, Phyllis Bowman.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at the Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home. Interment will follow in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bennington. There are no calling hours scheduled.

Memorials in his honor may be made to the Residents Activities Fund at the Vermont Veterans Home through the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
