BENNINGTON -- Norma Jean Linihan, 80, a resident of Walloomsac Apartments, School Street, Bennington, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Born in Shushan, N.Y, May 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Anna (Sears) Billings. She received her education in the Poultney and Plymouth schools.

She married Glenn Linihan July 9, 1977, at the First United Methodist in Bennington. Mr. Linihan died Jan. 16, 2006

In earlier years Mrs. Linihan was employed as a nurse’s aide at several nursing homes in the Rutland area and later at Crescent Manor Nursing Home in Bennington.

Her interests included cooking, baking and crocheting. She was very close to her granddaughter Linda Prescott.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Hayes of West Rutland, Willard Hayes of Springfield and Mark Hayes of Pittsford; two daughters, Clara Hayes and Barbara Hayes both of Rutland; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Billings of Plymouth, and Edgar Billings of Ludlow, three sisters, Doris Earl of Bridgewater, Phyllis Ruth of Springfield, and Elizabeth “Betty” Billings of Ludlow; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Linihan was predeceased by three brothers and a sister, Raymond Billings, Gilbert Billings, Alex Billings and Louise Jones.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at 1 p.m.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.
