SOUTH DORSET -- Norman E. Woodcock, 81, a lifelong resident of the Manchester area, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

He was born in Schuylerville, N.Y. July 2, 1923, the son of Fred and Eleanor (Naylor) Woodcock. He was educated in local schools.

Norman married Mildred (Wade) Woodcock in 1946. Norman ran a private rubbish removal business for 10 years. He worked for 30 years doing woodwork for Manchester Woodcraft before he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His family and friends will miss his good sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Christine Moffit of South Dorset; his brothers, Robert Woodcock of Sandgate, Leslie Woodcock of East Dorset and William Woodcock of Cambridge, N.Y.; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester on Saturday, April 23, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a graveside service of committal in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset.
