Normand J. LaCroix 1933-2008 BENNINGTON - Normand J. LaCroix, age 74, a resident of Mt. Anthony Road, died peacefully at Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y. Sunday, Feb. 24, after a long battle with emphysema and heart disease. He was born on Morgan Street in Bennington on March 22, 1933 and was the son of the late Marshall and Aldea Page LaCroix. He received his education in local schools. Normand served in the Army during the Korean War. He married the former Joanne Douglass on Oct. 28, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington. Normand was a self-employed milk distributor of Fairdale milk products for over thirty years. After retiring he became a well known house painter in the area. He was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington, and the Knights of Columbus Council 307 where he was a member of the Fourth Degree. Norm was a twenty-five year member of the Bennington Rural Fire Department. He loved hunting, fishing and especially surf casting in Rhode Island for Stripers. He was also and avid antique enthusiast. He leaves his wife Joanne of Bennington, and three sons; Normand Mark and his partner Jim Linhares of Palm Bay Fla. Jeffrey and wife Kathy of North Bennington, Vt., Scott and wife Lori of Canaan, N.H. He has ten grandchildren, Jason, Brian, Sarah, Jodie, Kerry, Jay, Steven, Brittany, Christine and Andrew. Five great grandchildren, Hannah, Sophia, Miranda, Ryan and Sidney He also leaves two brothers; Jerry LaCroix of Bennington and Bernard LaCroix of Eagle Bridge, N.Y. He has one sister, Irene Couch of North Bennington. He was pre-deceased by a son, Craig LaCroix who died on Oct. 19, 1994 and two brothers Arthur and Eugene LaCroix FUNERAL NOTICE: According to Normand's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The burial will take place in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
