Obituary Condolences

MANCHESTER -- Ormal B. Eaton, 82, a lifelong resident of Manchester, died suddenly on Feb. 2, 2005 at his Lye Brook Road residence. He was born in Manchester on May 30, 1922, the son of Joseph Ferris and Alice Kent. He attended local schools and graduated from Burr & Burton Seminary.

Soon after school, Ormal entered the U.S. Army during World War II. He mostly served with the 54th military police detachment. For his service, Ormal received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and Victory Medal. He came back to Manchester and worked for 40 years as a greenskeeper at the Ekwanok Country Club. Ormal enjoyed hunting and fishing and led a simple, quiet life just the way he wanted.

He is survived by his brothers Archie H. Eaton Jr. of Manchester and Truman A. Eaton of Wallingford. He was predeceased by his brothers Harold, Roger and Warren and his sisters Ruth Eaton, Grace Standish and Elizabeth Fisher.

A public graveside service will be held in the Eaton family lot in Factory Point Cemetery in the spring, on a date to be announced. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Manchester Health Services c/o Brewster Funeral Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester, VT.
