Otto E. Raetz

1926-2013 BENNINGTON Otto E. Raetz, at age 87, finally found peace on October 4, 2013 when he left this earth and went home, surrounded by his family members. Otto was born April 23, 1926 in White Plains, NY. He was the son of George Raetz and Elsie (White) Raetz. He married Norma Wooddell on August 6, 1949 in Bennington, VT. She survives along with their four sons: Edward (Linda) Raetz, Joel (Sharon)Raetz, Timothy (Kathy) Raetz and Terrance (Tracey) Raetz. as well as nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was employed at the Henry M. Tuttle Company in Bennington for many years. In his early years, he enjoyed fishing with his young sons, hiking in the neighborhood and sharing a candy bar along the way. His love of baseball then led to a twenty-five year committment of helping with the building of the Bennington Little League Park, coaching a team for Tansistor and umpiring. He also loved his trips to Williamsport, PA for the championship games. Later in life he played tennis, enjoyed his beloved horse "Belle" and found another passion in growing dahlias. Otto loved sharing his flowers but the first and last flowers of each season were given to his wife. He was predeceased by his mother, father, sisters; Lorraine, Betty, and Carolyn and brothers; George and Edward. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, at 1:30 PM at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington. Interment will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 until the time of the service.
