Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A large number of family and friends gathered at the First Baptist Church in Bennington on Thursday afternoon for the funeral of Parker Wilcox Morrison of Bennington. The Rev. Norma Drosky, pastor, officiated. Music for the service was provided by Heather York who offered the organ selections “The Navy Hymn,” “Anchors Aweigh” and “Beyond The Sunset.” The congregation joined together in singing “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.” Words of tribute and remembrance were offered by Mr. Morrison’s brother Terry Morrison, sister-in-law Patricia Morrison, Jim Hasson, representing the SeaBee Veterans Association of Vermont, and Ronald Hyson, who offered “The Final Inspection.” Following the service, a time of fellowship and sharing of memories took place in Colgate Hall at the Church.

Serving as pallbearers were Mr. Morrison’s sons Matthew Morrison, Andrew Morrison and Joshua Morrison, his brother Terry Morrison, step-son Vance Dewey and close friends Jim Davis, Jim Hasson and Ronald Hyson. The honorary pallbearers included Roger Spika, Tom Hayes, Scott Taylor, Roland Roy and Chris LaCroix.

On Wednesday evening at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home members of American Legion Post No. 69 and members of Red Mt. Lodge F&AM, both from Arlington, conducted memorial services in honor of their fellow legionnaire and brother Mason.

Attending calling hours and the service were a number of Parker’s co-workers from W.P.I.

Parker Morrison, a resident of the West Road Park in Bennington and U.S. Navy veteran of Korea and Vietnam, died on Monday, Feb. 23, 2004 at his home at the age of 69.
