NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Patricia A. (Farrell) O’Neil, 84, of 150 Ashland St., North Adams, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at North Adams Commons, where she was admitted Nov. 20, 2003.

She was born in Middlebury, Vt., Jan. 23, 1919, daughter of the late George and Angelina Farrell. She attended Middlebury Elementary School and was a graduate of Middlebury High School. She attend Middlebury College for one year. She moved to the area 60 years ago and was a longtime resident of North Adams. She was employed at the former Sprague Electric, North Adams, for 28 years until 1972. She then worked at the former Adams Nursing Home, Williamstown, for 10 years until her retirement in 1982. Following her retirement she worked part-time at the North Adams Adult Daycare Center for 10 years.

She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. She enjoyed serving on local political campaign committees and also enjoyed her grandchildren.

Her husband Thomas J. O’Neil Jr., whom she married in 1941, died Nov. 17, 1972. She is survived by two sons, Thomas S. O’Neil of Williamstown, and Gary O’Neil of Bennington, Vt.; three daughters, Barbara Alarie of Hampton, N.H., Eileen Tisdale of Adams, and Kathleen Gregory of Dalton; nine grandchildren, Tammy Tisdale, Kelly Keleher and Heath Tisdale, all of North Adams, Brian Alarie and Cheryl Greene, both of Adams, Francis Alarie of Washington, D.C., Candra Tuladar of Atlanta, Ga., Stacey O’Neil of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Carrie O’Neil of Bennington; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A daughter, Denise M. O’Neil, died June 19, 1971 and three brothers and two sisters also predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, from the Auge-San Soucie-Simmons Funeral Home, North Adams. A liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to the North Adams Adult Daycare Center through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., 01247.
