Patricia Anton 1928 - 2009 BENNINGTON Patricia Anton, 81, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in Bennington. She was born Dec. 30, 1928, the daughter of Bernard E. LaLonde and Marjorie Nixon LaLonde. Patricia attended Queensborough Community college in New York and majored in Accounting. She also attended Douglaston College on Long island, where she pursued religious studies for several years. Patricia's whole life centered around her family and her church. In her former parish in New York, she was the Deanery Chairperson for Religious Education, a certified Catechist, a member of the Legion of Mary and the Rosary Society. She was a Third Order Carmelite and a member of the Thomas Merton Society. Pat was a daily communicant of Sacred heart St. Francis de Sales Church, a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the St. Anne's Society. For over 60 years, she was a disaster volunteer for the Bennington chapter of the American Red Cross. She provided assistance to families during floods, tornadoes, etc. all around the country and in Puerto Rico. She leaves her loving family, including husband, Joseph, to whom she was married for 60 years; son, Thomas, and his wife Janet, and granddaughter, Jennifer; son, David and his wife Sandra, and grandson, Vincent. She was predeceased by one grandson, John Joseph. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Prayer service will be held Monday, May 11, at the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Death and Burial at 10 at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment will follow in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, May 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. Members of the St Anne's Society are asked to meet at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. for the recitation of the Rosary.
