SHAFTSBURY -- Patricia L. Merrow, 52, a resident of Buck Hill Road, died on Friday evening Dec. 7, 2007, at her home while surrounded by her family.

Patty was born in Bristol, Pa., May 21, 1955. She was the daughter of Mary Kane Towle and the late James H. Towle. After moving to Buffalo with her family, she graduated from Holy Angels Academy and went on to attend Medaille College.

On Sept. 13, 1981, she and Curtis H. Merrow of Hamburg, N.Y., were married at the United Methodist Church in Hamburg.

Patty and Curt moved to Shaftsbury in March 1983, and soon thereafter she began working at Spice N Nice Natural Foods in Bennington, where she was employed until June 2006.

Patty was very devoted to her children and took great pleasure in participating in their activities. She also enjoyed gardening and caring for the family’s many pets.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis H. Merrow of Shaftsbury, her daughter, Amanda E. and her son Steven C. Merrow of Shaftsbury;, her mother, Mary K. Towle of Dade City, Fla., and two brothers Daniel P. Towle, D.C., and Kevin “Rusty” Towle, also of Florida. Her surviving family also includes Curt’s mother, Leta L. Merrow of Hamburg, N.Y., Curt’s brother, Arthur S. Merrow III, and his wife Susan of East Haddam, Conn., and their daughter Anne L. Merrow of Boulder, Colo.

A celebration of Patty’s life will be held at the Seventh Day AdventistChurch on Houghton Lane on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at 5 p.m. Friends and family are invited to stay for a light repast following the ceremony.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m.
