BENNINGTON -- Patricia Moriarity, 75, a resident of Bennington, died Monday morning, Jan. 17, 2005, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass.

She was born in San Jose, Calif. on March 17, 1929, the daughter of William and Isabel (Tyler) Robertson, and attended local schools.

Patricia was an entrepreneur and restaurateur. She supported her husband John in all his business endeavors, including JMC Interior and Architectural Design Center in Los Angeles, Calif. and LaPomme Inc., a French restaurant in New York City, acting as owner and vice president. They also owned and operated a restaurant and hotel consultation business based in Mexico City and were the proprietors of the Polo Cafe in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

She was very active in the theatre arts in New York City and became involved with charity work and personal counseling.

She supported the American Cancer Society and was an advocate against animal cruelty by supporting the ASPCA. Patricia was also a member of the National Republican Businesswomen Association. Mrs. Moriarity was very creative and was an accomplished portrait painter.

Patricia is survived by her children, Patty Murray of California, Cynthia Bishop of Overland Park, Kans., Melenie Howard and her husband John of Keene, N.H. and Lizabeth Rae Moriarity of California; her sister, Wilda Kelleher of Daly City, Calif.; her grandchildren, Joseph and Anthony Murray, Eric M. and Denise Currier and Tracy Nunez; and her great-grandchild, Gabriella Nunez. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Moriarity, who died Aug. 11, 2000.

At the request of the family, funeral services and interment will be private. There are no visiting hours. A memorial Mass for friends of Patricia will be held on Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 238 West Main St., Bennington.

Memorial donations in Patricia’s memory may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter or to the National Kidney Foundation, c/o Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 957, Bennington, VT 05201.
