Patricia R. Ogilvie

1927 - 2014 BENNINGTON Patricia R. Ogilvie, 87, a long time resident of Jefferson Ave. in Bennington and more recently of Emeritus at Fillmore Pond, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at her residence following a long battle with cancer. She was born in Bennington, Vt., Feb. 24, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Ralph R. and Florence Clark Rogers. Patricia received her education in Bennington and was a 1945 graduate of Bennington High School. On July 3, 1948, Patricia married John T. Ogilvie at the Saint Francis de Sales Rectory in Bennington. Mr. Ogilvie died Jan. 28, 2005. In earlier years, Patricia was employed at Ben Mont Paper, the Union Carbide Corporation, and the Pennysaver. For many years, she was employed at the Vermont National Bank from which she retired. Patricia was a former member of the Business and Professional Women, AARP, RSVP, and was a volunteer at both the Bennington Museum and the Bennington Free Library. While a member of the Business and Professional Women, Patricia was named Woman of the Year along with her good friend, Claire Thompson. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and in earlier years, bowling. Survivors include three sisters, Joan Morse of Bennington, Danielle Cornell of Shaftsbury, Vt., and Susan Rogers of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; two brothers, Robert Rogers of Troy, N.Y. and Donald Rogers of Sunderland, Vt., along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her longtime friend, Dorothy Mallory of Bennington. She was predeceased by her daughter, Heather A. Ogilvie, who died on Dec. 7, 1979, eight brothers, William, George, James, Francis, Ralph, Roy, Theodore, and Thomas Rogers and a sister, Jeannette Damon. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday, June 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. If friends desire contributions in memory of Patricia R. Ogilvie may be made to Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
