POWNAL -- Patricia Ruth Eldredge, 63, a resident of Pownal, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 15, 2004, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

She was born in Jersey City, N.J. on July 16, 1941, a daughter of Edward and Evelyn (Hanley) Barth, and attended local schools there. She moved from East Rutheford, N.J. to Pownal in 1990. Mrs. Eldredge was a waitress for various area restaurants and was employed by the Grand Union in Williamstown, Mass.

Patricia loved cross-stitch knitting, being so talented as to make dresses or draperies without having to follow a pattern. She enjoyed listening to music, taking country drives with her husband Gene, hanging wallpaper, and loved bingo and cherished times spent with her family, although not often enough. She was a member of the American Legion Post 90, Women’s Auxiliary, Pownal.

She is survived by her husband Eugene Eldredge of Pownal; four daughters, Susan Fox of East Brunswick, N.J., Linda Slaski of Sussex, N.J., Jill Slaski of Bellville, N.J. and Patty Amick of Wantage, N.J.; three stepdaughters, Corrine Eldredge, Karen Atwood and Donna Eldredge, all of Cape Cod, Mass.; a stepson, Christopher Eldredge, also of Cape Cod; one brother, Edward Barth of Arizona; five grandchildren, Eddie, Michael, Erin, Jessica and Matthew, all of New Jersey; six step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Mrs. Eldredge will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington. The Rev. Vincent Coppola, associate pastor of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Bennington, will conduct the service. There are no visiting hours.
