Obituary Condolences

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Patricia Wilkie LaBarge, 68, died Thursday, Sept. 14, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Edward F. LaBarge, on May 1, 2005. She was born in Albany, N.Y., on May 4, 1938, the daughter of the late Edward Wilkie and Audrey Shepard Foucher.

Patricia graduated from the North Bennington, Vt., High School in 1957 and St. Joseph Business College in 1959.

In earlier years she was employed at Fishman’s, Thomas Manufacturing, Vermont Public Services and Warren Wire. She moved with her family to Venice, Fla., in 1974 and then to Tallahassee, Fla., in 1986 and owned a variety store and bait shop with her husband. She moved to the Atlanta area in 1997. In Georgia she was a manager at Winn-Dixie and after she retired she worked with her daughter as a dog trainer.

Patricia enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved arts and crafts, making Halloween costumes for her grandchildren, family game night and bingo.

Patricia will always be remembered for her amazing courage and strength, love for her family and friends and wonderful sense of humor.

Patricia is survived by seven daughters: Wendy Harris of Powder Springs, Xalina LaBarge of Woodstock, Yvonne Hogan of Jamesville, N.Y., Zandra Jeffery of Marietta, Tina Raffety of Venice, Shelly Wilson of Newport Center, Vt., and Holly Freeman of Shaftsbury, Vt.; two sons, Van LaBarge of Woodstock and Kris LaBarge of Nokomis, Fla.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters, Eleanor Wilke of Marietta and Charlotte Roberto of Powder Springs. Patricia was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Wilkie and Edward Wilkie, both of Bennington, Vt.

A celebration of her life and burial will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at 9 a.m. at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington with a reception to follow in the parish hall.
