Obituary Condolences

ARLINGTON -- The liturgy of Christian burial for Paul D. Wade of Arlington was celebrated on Thursday morning at St. Margaret Mary’s Church in Arlington.

The Rev. George H. Dupuis, pastor, was the celebrant and Sarah Duffany was the altar server. The pall was placed on Mr. Wade’s casket by his sons, William Wade and James Wade. Mrs. Louise Gauthier, organist offered “Be Not Afraid” as the entrance hymn. The first reading from the Book of Wisdom was offered by Mr. Wade’s son-in-law Thomas Shortle and the second reading from the Book of Revelation by his granddaughter Alisa Wade. Mr. Wade’s daughters Shelia Hoyt, Anita Roy and Donna Savage presented the offertory gifts at the altar and the offertory selection was “Here I Am Lord.”

A eulogy was offered by Mr. Wade’s son Mark Wade. The Recessional hymn offered by Mrs. Gauthier was “On Eagle’s Wings.”

Interment followed in the Wade family lot at St. Columban’s Cemetery in Arlington with the Rev. Dupuis offering the committal prayers. Serving as pallbearers were Mr. Wade’s grandsons Travis Hess, Brian Wade, Matt Shortle and Steven Forrest and nephews Tom Hayes, Harold LaBatt and Anthony Hayes. Mr. Wade’s deceased grandson Michael “MJ” Nicholson received the tribute of honorary bearer.

Military honors were accorded Mr. Wade during the committal service at St. Columban’s Cemetery. Commander John Hoyt and Paul Woodard of American Legion Post # 69 in Arlington folded the American flag draping Mr. Wade’s casket and Commander Hoyt presented the flag to Mr. Wade’s wife, Rosalie. Taps were sounded by Maurice Rancourt.

Mr. Wade, a resident of Old West Road in Arlington and U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II, died on Monday, May 3, 2004 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington at the age of 80.

Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Arlington Chapel of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.
