1928 - 2014 BENNINGTON Pauline M. White, 86, a resident of Niles Road in Bennington died peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 1, at her residence following a brief illness. She was born in Bennington, Aug. 18, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Evelyn (Gauthier) LaCroix. Pauline received her education in Bennington and was a 1947 graduate of Bennington High School. On July 19, 1947, Pauline married Roger E. White at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. They recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. In earlier years Pauline had been employed at Thomson Manufacturing and had also worked at the Sears Catalog office. For many years she had been employed at the Union Carbide Corp./Eveready from which she retired in 1982. For eighteen years, Pauline volunteered as a Grey Lady at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and for several years was a volunteer at the Red Cross Store in Bennington. She was a member of the R.S.V.P. and enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing and gardening. Survivors include her husband, Roger E. White of Bennington; her children, Steve L. White of Arlington, VT., Cindy M. Libardi of Milford N.H., Dawn Pilato of Honeye Falls, N.Y., and Mark E. White of Bennington; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister, Jacqueline Connell of Vancouver, British Columbia; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Roland and Francis LaCroix. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and then from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 11 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. The burial will follow in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. If friends desire, contributions may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center or BAYADA Hospice through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
