1925 - 2014 BENNINGTON Peggy Millicent (Jackson) Driver passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014 at Bennington Health and Rehab at the age of 88. Peggy was born Sept. 21, 1925 in Warsop, England, to Reginald and Elsie Jackson. Peggy attended an all girls school in Warsop, the home of Robin Hood. She excelled in sports. During World War II she joined the Women's Royal Air Force as a secretary and worked in the mail room. She met and married Trevor Driver, while in the RAF, on May 19, 1945. They came to America in 1948. She worked as a seamstress for England Brothers in Pittsfield, Mass. and as a homemaker when they bought a farm in Lanesborough. Later she and Trevor bought Knolls Gift Shop in Sheffield, Mass. They moved to Bennington in 1987 and opened a deli/restaurant at Camelot for a couple of years, then worked for a while at Polo in Manchester. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Lingner and husband, Bruce; grandson, Scott Snow; granddaughter, Jennifer Baker and partner, Neil Allen; step-granddaughter, Dr. Katherine Lingner, and great grandsons, Aaron Baker and Brenden Snow. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Trevor just six years prior and by a sister, Audry Robinson. SERVICES: In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter. A celebration of both Trevor and Peggy's life will be held on Saturday afternoon Oct. 25, from 1:00 p.m. on at the home of her daughter Janet, 117 North Pownal Road, Pownal.
