Perle Robert Cross

BENNINGTON, VT Perle Robert Cross, 68, of Shaftsbury Hollow Road in White Creek, N.Y., died on Friday evening, Jan. 15, at the Bennington Health and Rehab Center following a brief illness.Born in White Creek, N.Y., he was the son of the late Perle and Irene Gulley Cross. He received his education in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and graduated in the Hoosick Falls High School Class of 1959.

Over the years, Perle has been employed at the Cross Oil Co. in Bennington, Dailey Construction Co. in Shaftsbury; also at Johnson Controls and at the time of his retirement he was employed at Taconic Plastics in Petersburgh, N.Y.

He enjoyed hunting, spending time at camp at Lake Somerset, and in his vegetable gardens, but his family and home were his main interests.

He leaves his wife, the former Christine Lauzon, and his four children, Robert Cross and his wife, Noel, of Troy, N.Y., Maria Lewis and her husband, Rob, of Petersburgh, N.Y., Diane Metzger and her husband, Steve, of Galway, N.Y. and John Cross of White Creek, N.Y. He also leaves three grandchildren, Matt and Jenny Metzger of Galway, N.Y., and Emma Kathleen Cross of White Creek.

Perle has one brother, Sonny Cross, and four sisters, Virginia Green, Phyllis Ruggles, Theresa Livingston, and Doris Lucas, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his companion, Sammy Cat.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St. in Bennington on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m.
