FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Peter Charles Maunsell, 68, native of Montpelier, Vt., and long-time resident of Bennington, Vt., died Aug. 11, 2005 in Fort Collins. A 1956 graduate of Montpelier High School, Peter studied theater in Boston and New York City and appeared in many off Broadway and summer stock productions as well as television and film. While in New York, he married Michael Mary Hanrahan and had two children, Patricia Ann and Derek Riley.

After a brief move to San Francisco, Peter moved back to Vermont and settled his family in Bennington. He worked in the restaurant business, in schools (including Mount Anthony Union High School) and in the printing business. He owned and operated Print Quik Ink in downtown Bennington for many years. After 10 years in the Washington, D.C., area, Peter and his wife retired to Colorado in 2003. In the years after Peter left the theater, he continued his creative expression through writing, including short stories and a novel.

At the time of his death, he was working on his first non-fiction book about the events of 1968. Peter is survived by his wife and children as well as his son-in-law, David; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; his grandchildren Riley, Kathryn and Jack; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Dorothy Maunsell of Greensboro, Vt.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Peter’s interment will take place in the spring of 2006 at the Maunsell family plot in Berlin.
