OLCOTT, N.Y. -- Peter G. Hill, loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Aug. 16, 2005.

Peter G. Hill, 81, of Olcott, entered into rest at home after a long illness. He was born on July 11, 1924, in Great Barrington, Mass., to the late Peter Cecil Hill and Eunice Lottie (Camp) Hill. Peter was a World War II veteran, assigned to the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper and ski instructor. He saw action in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.

He received the Purple Heart and several other medals of honor. Peter was a heavy-duty construction worker and helped build the St. Lawrence Seaway in Massena and New York Power Authority in Niagara Falls. He was a member of the Teamsters Union No. 377 and worked for Youngstown Cartage Co.

He was pre-deceased by his sister, Patricia Foster of Bennington, Vt. In addition to his wife, Audrey (McGregor), he is survived by two sisters, Eunice Kelson (Samuel) of Bennington, Harriet Proctor (George) of Half Moon; one brother, Robert Melvin Hill (Alice) of Wapato, Wash.; two sons: Robert P. (Pamela) Hill of Youngstown and John A. (June) Hill of Bloomsburg, Pa.; three daughters: Darlene Wilson (James) of Youngstown, Vivian DiCarlo (John) of Ft. Myers, Fla., Joy Monroe (Robert) of Newfane; five stepchildren: Susan Connor (Paul) of Salisbury, N.C., Patricia Green (Mike) of Olcott, Brenda Longfield of Lockport, Sheri-Lyn Poole (Andy) of Gasport, Roy Longfield of London, Ontario; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and close friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the Family Worship Center, 5721 Tonawanda Creek Road North, Pendleton, NY 14094 with the Rev. Sondra Rance officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial offerings may be made in memory of Peter to Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, 219 Bryant Street, Buffalo, NY 14222.
