Obituary Condolences

POWNAL -- Peter J. Krawczyk, 91, a resident of Niles School Road, Pownal, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at his residence following a long illness.

Born in Bennington, Jan. 2, 1916, he was the son of the late Albert and Agnes (Vorchenic) Kraawczyk. He received his education in the Bennington schools.

Peter married the former Rita Chenaille at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington on June 1, 1940.

In earlier years he was employed in farming by the late Bill Goodwin and later as a carpenter and at a local sawmill by the late Fred Lillie. For many years Peter was employed at General Cable Company in Pownal until the time of his retirement.

An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an avid fan of the New York Mets.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Krawczyk of Pownal; his children and their spouses, Linda Carey and her husband Terry, Gerald Krawczyk and his wife Sandra, Neil Krawczyk and his wife Leanne and Kevin Krawczyk and his companion Linda Guetti, all of Pownal; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Krawczyk Sr. and Raymond Krawczyk, both of Bennington; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Krawczyk was predeceased by a daughter, Martha Krawczyk, two sisters, Veronica Coonradt and Julia Lominsky and four brothers, William Krawczyk, Michael Krawczyk, John Krawczyk and Paul Krawczyk.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at 11 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales at 11:30 a.m. where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. The wake service will be offered Tuesday evening.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
