Philip D. McQuade

Philip Douglas McQuade, 89 of Indianapolis, passed away at Arlington Place, in Indianapolis, Indiana, on August 28, 2016. Beloved husband of Janet Snow; loving father of Brooke (Anders), Sydney, Alexandra (William) and Paula (Scott); beloved grandfather of Gabriel, Quinn, Philip, Zachary, Austin, Anna, Georgia and 5 great grandchildren; devoted brother of Margaret Cartwright and caring brother-in-law of Joyce McQuade. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Jessie McQuade and brothers Paul, Max and Jerry. Philip was born and raised in Greenwich, New York and attended the local high school where he was a 3-sport athlete. He joined the U.S. Navy in1944and then attended Union College in Schenectady, New York where he was a star pitcher. Philip graduated from Union in 1950 and spent the next 35 years at RCA where he was manager of Employee Relations, retiring in 1986. Philip and his wife Janet moved to Shaftsbury, Vermont where he was an active member of the Shaftsbury Historical Society and St. James Episcopal Church prior to moving back to Indianapolis in 2011. He cherished his time in the outdoors and particularly enjoyed following the New York Yankees. Philip had a loving heart and was loved by all that knew him. He will be deeply missed. SERVICES: Service at St. James Episcopal Church, Arlington, Vermont at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 Interment immediately following at Center Shaftsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shaftsbury Historical Society, Shaftsbury, Vermont.
