ARLINGTON -- Phyllis B. Williams, 93, formerly a resident of Russell Street, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at Equinox Terrace in Manchester.

Phyllis was born in Bernardsville, N.J., on Oct. 23, 1912, the daughter of Lewis and Mary (Vliet) Ballantine. She received her education in Bernardsville public schools and attended Sarasota High School in Florida for three years, then returned to Bernardsville and graduated from Bernardsville High School.

Phyllis was a bridge fanatic and played for various area bridge clubs. She enjoyed golfing and taking walks with her husband, Robert. Phyllis loved to sail on Long Island Sound, was an avid reader and enjoyed television, especially soap operas and news. Phyllis was also a member of the Federated Church of East Arlington.

She married Robert Lee Williams on Sept. 26, 1932, in New York City. Mr. Williams died Sept. 18, 1996.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Robert Williams, and his wife, Tish, of Arlington; her daughter, Carol duPont, and her husband, Anthony, of La Jolla, Calif.; her niece, Cynthia Wortmann of Sun City, Fla.; her grandchildren, Jennifer Williams of Truckee, Calif., Alicia Williams of San Francisco, Calif., Richard Schnier of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., Gary Hambuechen of Jupiter, Fla., and Blair Biedermann of Phoenix, Ariz.; and five great-grandchildren.

At the request of the family, funeral services will be private. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Phyllis’s memory may be made to the Federated Church of East Arlington, c/o Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P. O. Box 528, Arlington, VT 05250.
