HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Rachael M. Wilkins, 23, died peacefully in her sleep on March 29, 2007, in Hoosick Falls. She was the daughter of Daisy Lynn of Hoosick Falls and the late David Wilkins. Rachael formerly resided in North Adams, Mass.

Rachael was born on Aug. 28, 1983, in Glens Falls and was educated at schools in Bennington and North Adams. She enjoyed horror movies, animals, tanning, shopping, dancing and having fun with her friends and family. During her short life she worked as a C.N.A in Massachusetts and loved taking care of the residents and was good at it. For a short time she was employed as a dietary aide at the Hoosick Falls Health Center in 2001.

Rachael collected dolphins, loved music of all kinds from rap to country, adored big hoop earrings and coloring her hair. Her fondest dream was to go to Florida and meet Mickey Mouse and see real palm trees. She got to do that last year with her boyfriend Jason, she was very happy. Rachael was funny, big-hearted and full of life.

Survivors other than her mother Daisy include her step-mother Bonnie Wilkins; step-sister Tonya Brock; half-sister Minda Wilkins; half-brother David Wilkins; and paternal grandmother Margaret Wells all of Salem. Being part of two blended families, she is also survived by her step-father Robert Hurley Sr. of Hoosick Falls; sister Jean Elliot, brothers Michael Barcomb of Bennington, Vt., and John Elliot of Auburn; step-sisters Karen Farron of Bennington, Vt., and Robin Nelson of Rhode Island; maternal grandmother Joyce Blair of Bennington, Vt. Rachael is also survived by several aunts, uncles, two nephews, a niece, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will be with her father at the Rupert Cemetery in Rupert, Vt., at the convenience of the family.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the A.S.P.C.A. through the funeral home.
