Ralph A. Bevis 1922 - 2008 BENNINGTON Ralph A. Bevis, 86, of Morgan Street died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Vermont Veterans Home, following a long illness. Born in Bennington on July 20, 1922, son of Frederick J. and Louise St. Mary Bevis, he received his education in North Bennington. Mr. Bevis was an Army Captain, serving during World War II for three years overseas. Mr. Bevis played an important role protecting secret information during World War II. He worked as an office courier for Allied Forces in London and that began his clearance to secret information. n earlier years, Mr. Bevis owned and operated The Gun Rack on Morgan Street for several years. He enjoyed trap shooting and was a multi-state champion. His wife, the former Norma Keough, whom he married Jan. 31, 1948, at St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington, died Nov. 3, 1999. He leaves one daughter, Ms. Lynn Bevis of Bennington, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers. FUNERAL NOTICE: At his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services held. Burial will take place in the family lot in St. Columban's Cemetery in Arlington at the convenience of the family.
