Ralph Emerson (Emmy) Andrew Obituary
Hoosick Falls, NY - Ralph Emerson (Emmy) Andrew died at the Vermont Veterans Home on November 29, 2017. Mr. Andrew was 92 and was the son of the late Caroline (Hewitt) Andrew and Ralph Andrew.

He is survived by five children: Donna Adler (Rick), "Chip" Andrew, Keith Andrew (Kim), Tina Berish (Stephen) and Ralph "Andy" Andrew (Alice), twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and sister Norma O'Brien. He is predeceased by a sister Olive Sharpe.

At the age of seventeen, Ralph left Hoosick Falls High School to enlist in the Navy. After a year in training centers he was assigned to the USS Weaver, a destroyer escort. The Weaver was commissioned on his 18th birthday December 31, 1942. He served on the Weaver throughout the Pacific in WW II. The destroyer was anchored in Tokyo Bay near the USS Missouri when the Japanese surrendered.

Ralph was a self employed appliance repairman for seventy years in the Hoosick Falls area. For many years he, his wife and family attended annual Navy reunions around the country and reconnected with his Navy family.

In 2008 he was honored to have been the Co-Grand Marshall of the Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Parade. He enjoyed walking throughout Hoosick Falls daily. He and his wife were members of the Senior Bowling League in Bennington for many years, both also enjoyed the local casinos. Ralph was a member of the V.F.W. in Bennington, VT.

The family would like to thank the Vermont Veterans Home, especially Cardinal Wing and North Wing for the extraordinary staff who provided compassion and loving care to our Dad. He was lovingly referred to as the "Mayor of Hooterville" by the staff.
