AGAWAM, Mass. -- Ralph Lodato, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, in Agawam. He was the husband of Frieda (Raffaele) Lodato of Agawam. Ralph and Frieda resided in Hoosick, Falls, N.Y., for several years.

Ralph was born on Nov. 19, 1914, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Joseph and Concetta (Dada) Lodato. He was educated in Brooklyn and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1945 to 1946. Ralph operated a pizza shop for many years on Long Island and worked at the Immaculate Conception Rectory in Hoosick Falls for several years. He enjoyed cooking and working with stained glass. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Hoosick Falls, and the Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 13 and the Moose Lodge, all in Bennington, Vt.

Survivors include his wife, Frieda of Agawam; his daughter, Carmen Olsen and her husband, Cliff, of Hancock, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Durken, and her husband, Patrick, of Southwick; two stepsons, Stephen Jugan of Levittown. N.Y., and Michael Jugan and his wife, Chi Na, of Korea; also 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Ralph is pre-deceased by his first wife, Theresa Lodato, a daughter, Constance Tauriello, and a son, Joseph Lodato.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at 9:15 a.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St., in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Long Island National Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Knights of Columbus or American Legion Post 13 through the funeral home.
