Raymond G. Rogers 1924 - 2009 HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. Raymond George Rogers, 84, died peacefully at home July 28, surrounded by his family, after a long illness. He resided on High St. with his wife, Joan Hewson Rogers, whom he married on Oct. 6, 1951. Born on Sept. 11, 1924, in Cambridge, N.Y., son of Joseph and Anna Mills Rogers, he graduated from Cambridge Central School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army and served valiantly as an Army medic in World War II, in the Seven Steps to Hell Regiment. Post-war, Raymond received an A.S. degree in Mathematics from the Veterans Vocational School, now known as Hudson Valley Community College, in 1947. He began his carpentry career working with George Warren Construction, followed by working with Martin J. Rogers Construction, and later started his own company, Rogers Roofing and Gutters, where he worked until his retirement. Raymond was an honorary alumnus of St. Mary's Academy, an honorary member of the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad, a life member of Hoosick Falls Elks #178, an active participant in Hoosier Hopefuls, Relay For Life Team, and a faithful communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. He leaves his beloved wife, Joan, his children Dorothy (John) Vars of Wynantskill, N.Y., Mary (John) Burdick, James Rogers and Joan Rogers Jr. all of Hoosick Falls, Michael (Stacy) Rogers of Latham, N.Y., Rosemarie Rogers (Richard Stowell) of Hoosick Falls, Faye (Gary) McCormick of North Walpole, N.H. 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Raymond also leaves a sister, Agnes Rogers, and a brother, John (Karen) Rogers, all of Cambridge, N.Y.. He is predeceased by brothers ,Martin (Olga) Rogers, Frank (Marguerite) Rogers, and sister, Stella (Rogers) Schmidt. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be Friday, July 31, at 10:15 a.m. from the MAHAR FUNERAL HOME, 43 Main St. in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main St. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 30, from 4 to 8 p.m.. Members of Elks #567 will perform their ritual service at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
