Raymond L. Lemieux 1929-2008 POWNAL, VT Raymond L. Lemieux, 78, of Pownal, passed away with his loving family surrounding him July 5, 2008 at Albany Medical Center, after a sudden illness. Born in North Adams on Nov. 10, 1929, son of Lorenzo Lemieux and Corinne Lafrombois. he attended Drury High School. He served in the Army as a medical technician in 1947 and 1948 at Presidio Army Base in San Francisco, Calif. Upon his return from the military, he worked for many years in a family business in Williamstown, where he met the love of his life, Jeannie Morrison. Raymond and Jeannie were married September, 3, 1956. He was employed for many years with the Williamstown Police Department as a patrolman, in addition to 19 years with Beloit Corporation in Dalton. After his retirement in 1992, he spent 14 years driving a school bus in the Bennington area for Dufour Corporation. He was a very energetic individual who enjoyed an active life, and just finished his final year of bus driving without a single sick day. He enjoyed target shooting, hunting, antiquing, cooking, driving throughout New England, motorcycling (in his early years on his 1949 Harley Davidson), and metal and woodworking. He was knowledgeable in many areas, he could build or fix anything. He was always the first one to reach out and help others in times of need. He loved to share his pies and homemade cooking with others. He had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Besides his wife Jeannie of 52 years, he leaves one daughter and three sons, Autumn and husband, Donato Mastroianni, of Cheshire; Neil and wife, Kimberly Lemieux, of Chester, N.H, and Bruce and wife, Michelle Lemieux, of Pownal, Vt.; David and wife, Jackie Lemieux, of Williamstown; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Devon, Amy, Zach, Richie, Lauren, David, Jessica, and Lance, and godchild Shaina. He also leaves his sisters Beatrice Thomason of Strasburg, Va. and Blanche Newlands of North Adams; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Doris Chouinard of North Adams and Marie Paesler of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE: There are no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Williamstown on Tuesday, July 8 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow with military honors at the Veteran's Circle in East Lawn Cemetery in Williamstown.
