WEST HARTFORD -- Reginald E. Burnham, 76, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction.

He was born July 25, 1926 in Hartford, a son of Wayne and May (Harrington) Burnham. He graduated from Hartford High School class of 1944 before joining the military. He was married to Dorothy Douglas on April 23, 1950 in Wilder. He worked as a logger and later at Green Mountain Box and Lumber Company in White River Junction and then as a truck driver at Cross Abbott in Hartford before becoming a machinist at Cone Blanchard in Windsor where he worked for 30 years. He also worked for a time at CDF Building Product in White River Junction before retiring in 1988.

Mr. Burnham taught Sunday school at the Hartford Congregational Church and was a Boy Scout leader when his children were young. He was a very spiritual man who enjoyed fishing, the Boston Red Sox and was a voracious reader.

He was predeceased by his wife Dec. 13, 1992, as well as seven brothers, Vernon, Lyman, Morris, Roy, Hazen, Wendell and Earl Burnham.

He is survived by four sons, Eugene R. Burnham of White River Junction, Brian D. Burnham of Meridianville, Ala., Jason A. Burnham of West Hartford, Alan D. Burnham of Bath, N.H.; five daughters, Beverly Wells of Rockingham, Nancy Leonard of Piermont, N.H., Norma Alley of Enfield, N.H., Julie MacAdam of Lebanon, N.H. and Karen Macedo of West Lebanon, N.H.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Stanley Burnham of Bennington, Roger and Fay Burnham both of White River Junction; four sisters, Helen Luce and Hilda Smith both of White River Junction, Hazel Therriault of Hartford and Katherine Vaughan of East Montpelier; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Hartford Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Baker Eddy/Longyear Museum, 1125 Boylston St., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
