EAST DORSET -- Dr. Regis Paul Nolin, 84, passed away at his home on Sept. 27, 2006. He was born April 27, 1922, in St. Johnsbury, the son of Joseph and Mabel (Emmons) Nolin. He attended St. Johnsbury Academy, University of Vermont, and the Chicago College of Podiatry. During WWII he served in the Pacific Theatre as Pharmacist’s Mate second class in the U.S. Navy.

He married Joyce Whalen on April 28, 1956, in Manchester. Dr. Nolin practiced podiatry with offices in Burlington and St. Johnsbury until 1976. He then moved to East Dorset where he continued a part-time practice until his retirement.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and maintaining his yard and garden. He had a way with animals and had a very special relationship with many dogs and cats.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Joyce; one daughter, Karen Nolin Gavett, and her husband, Ian, of Charlotte; one brother, Charles of St. Johnsbury; and his two grandsons Devon and Dan Govett. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Gratia Roy.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Manchester. He will be cremated and a graveside service will be held in St. Johnsbury at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Manchester Rescue Squad.
