Obituary Condolences

REDMOND, Wash. -- Reta Beadle Brown, 78, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003 at the Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle. She was the widow of James R. “Bob” Brown, who died in 1987.

Born Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1925 in Cambridge, N.Y., she was the daughter of John and Theresa Bailey Beadle. She was a graduate of Cumberland School of Nursing and was a registered nurse. She joined the U.S. Army and retired as a 2nd lieutenant in 1953.

She and Bob were married on Feb. 10, 1951.

Reta worked at Group Health Cooperative, a medical facility, as a registered nurse until she retired.

Reta enjoyed nature, especially bird watching, gardening, sailing and book reviews. Other favorite pastimes were reading and getting together with friends and family. She loved the University of Washington Husky football team and the Seattle Seahawks and proved it by purchasing season tickets annually. She recently reminded her family of her times with the Seahawkers before home and road games. She loved the natural beauty of the Washington and Oregon seacoast and purchased property there for the possibility of life by the sea.

She is survived by family and friends in New York, Washington, and California, who remember her dearly as a great friend, aunt and cousin.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church, 308 4th Avenue South, Kirkland, WA. Burial will be at the Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge, N.Y. on Monday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m. with a graveside service for family and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge, NY.
