1946 - 2015 BENNINGTON Richard William Bailey, 68, a resident of Elm Street died unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Bennington on Aug. 27, 1946. He was the son of the late Lawrence W. and Doris L. (Berger) Bailey. Richard attended Shaftsbury Elementary School and was a graduate of North Bennington High School. In November of 1966 Richard joined the United States Air Force. He served at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, Galena Air Force Base in Galena, Alaska and was last stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, Maryland where he met his former wife, June. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his children, Jason R. Bailey Blake of South Carolina, Tina Roseblock of W.Virginia, Teresa Keffer of South Carolina and Cody Wade-Bailey and Cortland Wade-Bailey of Bennington. His brothers and sisters, Robert Bailey of Bennington, David Bailey of Chazy, N.Y., Rose LaRose of Poultney, Donald Bailey of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Jean George of Bennington, VT, Raymond Bailey of Shaftsbury, VT and Nancy Bailey of Florida; His grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held at The Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 p.m. until the time of the service. The burial with military honors will take place in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington, VT the spring. If friends desire contributions in memory of Richard may be made to the Cancer Center at the Southwestern VT Medical Center through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
