1931 - 2009 Obituary Condolences
Shaftsbury - Richard "Smokey" Brine, 78, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
He was born in Denmark, Maine, a son of Arthur and Laura Osgood Brine, and attended Denmark Schools and then received his GED.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a self employed carpenter for all of his life and his reputation for wood working was quality craftsmanship. He owned a small woodworking shop which was called The Wooden Things.
He loved animals and enjoyed gardening.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Francis Brine; and two sisters, Bertha Sargent and Marjorie Thomas; and also by a nephew, Rex Brine. He is survived by his former wife, Joyce Brine, of North Bennington; one brother, Roland Brine, of Melbourne, Fla.; three nephews, Buzz Brine, Michael Brine, and Denis Brine; four nieces, Deborah Seymour, Sharon Doughty, Dodie Kania, and Donna Maloney; several great nieces and nephews and several cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 26th at Mt Pleasant Cemetery in Denmark. Arrangements are made with Wood Funeral Home. On line condolences may be expressed to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.org.
