Obituary Condolences

MANCHESTER CENTER -- A service for the celebration of the lives of Richard D. and Nadine M. Hayes was held at The First Baptist Church of Manchester Center on Wednesday morning with the Rev. Deborah J. Kamm, pastor, officiating.

Music for the service was provided by organist Jeffrey M. Linebeck who accompanied the congregation in singing “For the Beauty of the Earth,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “Faith of Our Fathers” and “Amazing Grace.” Personal reflections and memories were shared by many in attendance including by their son Jeffrey. The pastor read a poem titled “The Broken Chain” and offered her personal memories of the Hayes family, including Nadine’s lifelong involvement in the church, the Lord’s Prayer was recited in unison.

Members of the Manchester Fire Department formed an honor guard at the entrance of the church and served as bearers for Richard and Nadine. During the service two airplanes with members of the Flying Farmers circled the church in honor of Dick’s love of flying.

A time of refreshment and fellowship followed in the church vestry and Joy Hall.

Dick and Nadine, resident of Richville Road, died together Feb. 21, 2004 in Wallingford from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Arrangements were under the care of Brewster Funeral Service .
