Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Richard E. Squiers, 57, a resident of Division Place, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness.

He was born in Bennington on July 4, 1950, the son of the late Claude and Adeline (Betit) Squiers. Richard received his education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School.

In earlier years he was employed at Putnam Memorial Hospital, Green Mountain Furniture, Vermont Container and UST.

Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include three sisters, Matilda Blodgett and Pauline Moffitt of Bennington and Stella Hoot of Dorset; four brothers, Carl Squiers and Greg Squiers of Bennington, George Squiers of Halifax, and Roy Squiers of Woodford; many nieces, nephews and cousins; three aunts, Louise Johnson, Rose Brown and Theresa Boutin, all of Bennington; and an uncle, Clarence Betit of Virginia.

At the request of Richard there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the family lot in Saint Columban’s Cemetery in Arlington. A reception will follow the service at the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Parish Hall in Bennington beginning around noon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Lung Association through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington.
