Obituary Condolences

ARLINGTON -- Funeral services for Richard L. Stroffoleno Sr. were held Thursday morning, July 14, 2005, at the Federated Church of East Arlington.

The Rev. Thomas Truscott conducted the service. Music was under the direction of organist Douglas Bischoff who led the congregation in the singing of the hymns “The Old Rugged Cross,” “In The Garden” and “For All The Saints.” Words of remembrance were offered by family and many of Dick’s friends. The poem “The Ship” was read by the Rev. Truscott. Interment with military honors followed in the family lot in West Arlington Cemetery where Rev. Truscott offered burial rites and committal prayers. Fred Sheldon, chaplain of the American Legion Post 69 Arlington offered military prayers and the flag that draped the veterans casket was folded by color guard members Steven Ennis and Ted Houghton and presented to Mr. Stroffoleno’s daughter Ricci by Fred Sheldon.

Taps and echo was sounded by Maurice Rancourt. Serving as pall bearers were Mr. Stroffoleno’s son’s Richard “Skip” Jr., George Stroffoleno and Wesley Thompson, James Rubick and George Stroffoleno Jr. Serving as honorary bearers were Joseph S., Lucas and Michael Stroffoleno. A time of fellowship and refreshments followed at Bailey Hall at the church.

Richard L. Stroffoleno Sr., a lifelong resident of Arlington, died July 10, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Arrangements were under the care of Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, Arlington Chapel.
