Richard M. Myers

1935 - 2013 EAST DORSET Richard M. Myers, 78, of Benedict Road, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Richard was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Jan. 21, 1935, the son of Milton and Edith (Siekman) Myers.

Richard worked as a sales representative for Pattison Supply in Cleveland and then the McNichols Company, also of Cleveland and Tampa, Fl. Upon moving to Vermont, he worked for, and retired from, Sager-Spuck Company in Albany, N.Y.

Richard was a member of the Manchester Lions Club, the First Congregational Church of Manchester, where he served as Deacon, and the Army National Guard.

In his retirement, he was a greenskeeper for both the Stratton Golf Club and Equinox Golf Course. Richard enjoyed fishing, boating, photography, vegetable gardening, mowing his lawn, and detailing cars. Richard loved cats and volunteered at the Second Chance Animal Shelter, where he found his beloved companion, Reilly. He enjoyed his home and cherished time spent with his family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Trudy, of East Dorset, whom he married at the First Congregational Church in Manchester on July 29, 1987; his first wife, Sue Myers of Newport News, Va.; his daughter, Lori Musser of Newport News, Va.; step-daughters, Cynthia MacDonald and her husband George Deets of East Dorset, Lori Parker and her husband Chriss of Manchester Center, Deb MacDonald and her partner Mandy Mason of Wells, and Amy MacDonald and her husband Scott Slager of Warren; his brother, James Myers and his wife, Tina of Divide, Colo.; grandchildren Drew, Alex and Eric Musser of Newport News, Kileen Deets and Caity, Sarah, and Hannah Parker, all of Manchester.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, George H. Deets, IV, and by his stepfather, Warren Brooks.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of the life of Richard M. Myers will be held Monday, April 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Manchester. The Rev. Gordon McClellan will officiate. Interment will be private. There will be no visiting hours.
