Richard Perrott 1932-2011 BENNINGTON, VT Richard B. Perrott, age 79, a resident of Rutter Road in Bennington, died on Friday evening, December 2, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Bennington on August 12, 1932 and was the son of the late Richard V. "Reggie" and Dorothy (Miller) Perrott. He received his education in Bennington and is a graduate of Bennington High School. On October 19, 1957 he married the former Bessie "Betty" Wilcox in Bennington. Mrs. Perrott survives. Richard was a twenty year career member of the Air Force having received four Air Medals and five Oak Leaf Clusters. After retiring from the military in 1973, he worked at Reggie's Bar in Bennington, and in 1981 he joined the Vermont State Police as a dispatcher at the Shaftsbury barracks. Richard was a an avid reader, he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and followed the local sports programs. Richard was a life member of the Bennington Elks Lodge, and was a member of the American Legion in Arlington, VT. Richard was also a member of the Viet Nam Veterans of America, and Retired Enlisted Association. Survivors besides his wife include two children; Karen Orsini and her husband Jim of Argyle, N.Y., and Richard Perrott and his wife Tammy of Cherryville, N.C. He leaves his granddaughter Sara Moses and her fiance Scott Dickinson of Bennington, his brother Donald Perrott of Wynantskill, N.Y., and brother Patrick Perrott and wife Patricia of Bennington. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Military honors will be offered following the mass. Interment will take place at a later time. There are no calling hours scheduled. Memorial contributions my be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad or the Foundation for Pulmonary Fibrosis through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, Vermont 05201.
