Richard B. Torrey 1927-2011 WILLIAMSTOWN Mr. Richard B. Torrey, 84, of 58 Luce Road, Williamstown died on Friday April 8, 2011 at North Adams Regional Hospital. He was born in Williamstown, on February 2, 1927 a son of the late Chauncey E. Torrey and Maude (Harrison) Torrey. He graduated from Williamstown High School. Richard was a proud veteran of World War II & Korean Conflict where he served in both the US Navy and the US Marines. Later, he oversaw the operations of THE Aiken Chemical Company and the Phototech Co. in Williamstown for many years as a plant supervisor. He was also a bartender at the 1896 House and the Taconic Restaurant. He was a member of the Greylock Community Club, VFW of North Adams and the Williamstown American Legion. His wife the former Margaret (Lewis) Torrey died in March of 1985. They were married on July 15, 1961 in the First Congregational Church of Williamstown. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Maggie (Tisdale) Siracusa of Lanesboro, and Bobbie (Tisdale) King of Shaftsbury, Vt. (1) brother: Edwin Torrey of Bennington, Vt. Richard is also survived by a dear friend, Sharon Thomas of North Adams as well as many nieces and nephews. Richard is predeceased by a sister Jane Sharkey, and brother Norman Torrey. FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service to celebrate the life of Richard Torrey will take place Saturday May 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the family plot in Westlawn Cemetery, Williamstown with military honors. All who knew Dick are welcome. A reception will follow at the Williams Inn. Memorial Donations may be made to the Williamstown American Legion or North Adams VFW in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA.
