Obituary Condolences

POWNAL -- Richard Harold Tovani, 62, of Palmer Drive, died Monday morning at his home.

He was born in North Adams, Mass., on Dec. 29, 1942, son of the late Walter A. and Loretta (Dupre) Tovani. He attended local schools.

Mr. Tovani last worked as a machinist for the former Flomatic Valve Co. in Hoosick, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 90 in Pownal, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Bennington. He enjoyed restoring vintage cars.

He is survived by his companion of 24 years, June Jacobson of Pownal; one son, Richard H. Tovani Jr., of Savoy, Mass.; three daughters, Bridget Brockway of Windsor, Mass., Nancy Roberts of Virginia Beach, Va., and Bernadine Loftin of Mechanicsville, Va.; one brother, Carl Tovani of Florida, Mass.; one sister, Beverly Alcombright of North Adams; and his former wife, the former Joyce M. Parkhurst, of Dalton, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Walter A. Tovani Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m. in the Auge-San Soucie-Simmons Funeral Home, 46 North Church St., North Adams.

Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.

Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until the service.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pownal Rescue Squad, through the funeral home.
