WHITE CREEK, N.Y. -- Richard White, 62, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Aug. 28., 2007. He was the husband of the late Brenda (McCart) White who died on Oct. 5, 2006. Richard and Brenda were married on Aug. 12, 1967, at the Jermain Methodist Church in White Creek.

Richard was born on March 29, 1945, in West Stewartstown, N.H. He was the son of the late Esther and Frederick Gardner. He spent his early years in northern Vermont and New Hampshire, moving to this area in the early 1950s. He was a 1962 graduate of Hoosick Falls High School.

Richard was a dairy farmer all of his life and operated a dairy farm in White Creek with his wife and son for over 30 years. He retired from dairy farming in 1997. He was employed by Landview Farms in White Creek as a tractor operator. He enjoyed working with tractors, and “pushing” silage during the summer and fall months. He also enjoyed driving his old white van to tag sales on Saturday mornings, making chocolate chip cookies, NASCAR races, a good chew of tobacco, ice cream cones at Bensons and sitting in his recliner chair watching the antics of his dog and cats. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Timothy White of White Creek; his daughter, Annette Baldic and her husband, Tim, of Bennington, Vt. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Anthony and Annah Baldic of Bennington, Vt. He leaves a uncle and aunt Jack and Suzanne Wheeler of Cannon, Vt.; a close cousin William Clogston of Hurley, his-mother-in-law Betty McCart of White Creek and several sister and brother-in-laws, including Keith and Jan McCart, Bruce and Faye McCart all of White Creek, Jack and Jean McCart of Hoosick Falls, and Linda and Steve Hailstone of North Vancouver, British Columbia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and several pets. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by an infant son Michael who died in 1969.

Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls on Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services and burial will take place at the convenience of the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his memory be made to the White Creek Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
