Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A prayer service for Mrs. Rita Amadon was held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of the resurrection at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington at 11 a.m.

Celebrating the Mass was the Rev. James Preskenis, c.s.c., pastor of the church. Assisting the Rev. Preskenis at the Mass were Mr. Leonard Anzivino, Mr. John Reed and Mr. Francis Sauseville.

The pall was placed on the casket by two nieces, Shirley Barnhardt and Mary Stemp. The wooden cross was placed on the pall by her niece, Judy Moretti. The soloist for the Mass was Mr. Ethan Smith and the organist was Mr. Donald McMahon. The hymns chosen for the Mass were “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Supper of the Lord” and “On Eagles Wings.”

The Old and New Testament readings were offered by Mr. Leonard Anzivino.

The Eucharistic gifts were brought to the altar by Pauline and Roger White. The poem “Safely Home” was read by Shirley Barnhardt. Rita’s close friend, Elaine Carpenter, offered the eulogy.

Interment followed in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.

Honorary pallbearers for the services were Mr. J. Russell Carpenter, Mr. Roger White, Mr. Clyde Howe and Mr. Robert Purdy.

Pallbearers for the services included Mr. Steven White, Mr. Mark White, Mr. John Carpenter, Ms. Kelly Stemp, Mr. Ray Farnum, and Mr. Mike Moretti.

Mrs. Rita Amadon, 88, widow of the late C. Mason Amadon, died on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at home.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
