BENNINGTON -- Mr. Robert B. Herrmann Sr., 77, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at the Vermont Veterans Home. Prior to moving to the Veterans Home, Mr. Herrmann had resided in Saratoga Springs and for many years in Glenville, N.Y.

He was born in Albany, N.Y., on June 1, 1930, the son of the late Jacob and May Mary (Lorenz) Herrmann, he grew up in Albany where he received his education and gradated from high school. A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a radio operator with the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1952. Throughout his life he operated his own business installing siding and performing carpentry work. He was an avid ham radio operator with his call signal K132WQZ; he also enjoyed fishing.

He leaves his wife Sonia Holmer-Herrmann of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., two sons, Robert B. Herrmann Jr. of Balston Spa, N.Y., and Keith Herrmann of Rotterdam, N.Y., a daughter Terry Stinnitte of Scotia, N.Y.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the Four Chaplains all Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 12:30 p.m., burial, with full military honors will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Cemetery in Schuylerville, N.Y.

Friends may call at the chapel on Tuesday from 11a.m. until the time of the service.

Charlotte Harrington

BENNINGTON -- Charlotte Rae Harrington, 77, a resident of Goodall Street, died peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Harrington was born in Shushan, N.Y., on Nov.16, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Margaret (Woodard) Allen. She grew up in Shushan where she attended local schools. Mrs. Harrington was very active throughout her life and enjoyed country music and dancing. Being part of a large family, she especially enjoyed her home, family and especially her grandchildren.

She leaves her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Richard Hamilton of Shaftsbury; sisters Viola Gulley and Virginia Bourn both of Bennington; and Shirley Mears of White Creek, N.Y.; grandchildren Michelle Boardman, Rebecca Hewinson, Kristy Hamilton, Raymond Gates, Arthur Gates and Charles A. Harrington Jr.; a great grandchild Toby, a daughter-in-law Helen Harrington and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Charles H. Harrington; her son Charles A. Harrington A. Sr.; her life long companion Bill Bouplon; brothers William Allen, Raymond Allen, Philander Gates and Daniel Gates; sisters Ruth Zilinskas and Hazel Gates.

At the request of Mrs. Harrington there will be no funeral service. Burial will take place in the Centre White Creek Cemetery.

Should friends desire, memorial gifts may be made in memory of Mrs. Harrington to either the Memory Clinic at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
