Robert Bruce Ivie 1948 - 2008 BENNINGTON Robert Bruce Ivie, 59, of Main Street in North Bennington died Tuesday morning, Aug. 5, 2008, at his home after a long illness. Born in Richmond Hill (Queens), N.Y., on Sept. 1, 1948 the son of Clifford and Amelia Nacciaroni Ivie, he received his education in local schools. After his military service, he moved to Vermont and, for several years, operated his own electronic repair business from his home. Bob was proud to have served his country as a member of the Army, serving in Viet Nam and Europe from 1967 until 1970 and then serving in the Army Reserve until 1973. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 13, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1332, a life member of the American Disabled Veterans Chapter 4, a charter member of the Viet Nam Veterans of America Chapter 60 and a member of AARP. Bob and his wife, Wendy, loved their home on Main Street where he loved to tinker with all kinds of electronic equipment while Wendy kept their home looking beautiful with flowers of all kinds. He leaves his wife, Wendy, whom he married Aug. 14, 1998 in North Bennington; his daughter, Elizabeth Ivie, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Virginia Accinelli of Yorktown, N.Y., and Kathy Frandy of Massapequa, N.Y.; three brothers, Clifford Ivie of Queens, N.Y., Salvatore Gallo of Maryland and Jeffrey Gallo of Freeport, Long Island; his mother-in-law, Doris Pratt of North Bennington, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of the Life of Robert B. Ivie with full military honors will be held Friday, Aug, 8, 2008 at 2 p.m. at The Vermont Veterans Home All Faiths Chapel in Bennington. Pastor Penny Rich-Smith of the North Bennington Congregational Church will conduct the service with assistance from Veterans Home Chaplain, Kenneth Coonradt. Interment will be private.
