Robert A. Codogni 1921 - 2012 BENNINGTON, VT. Robert Alesti Codogni, 90, of Emeritus at Fillmore Pond, 300 Village Lane, formerly of 270 Tunnel St. Readsboro, Vt., died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at his home. He was born in Oxford, Conn., on June 8, 1921, son of Alesti and Maria (Pasquetti) Codogni. He moved to Readsboro with his family in 1922. He attended schools there and graduated from the Readsboro High School. He worked for the HT&W Railroad and the Deerfield Specialty Papers for 43 years, beginning in 1941. Robert enlisted in the Army Air Corps on Nov. 7, 1942. He trained in Midland, Texas; Ellington Field in Houston; and Augustana College in Moline, Ill., and served with the 8th Air Force in England as a bombardier on B-24s. He was discharged at Fort Devens in September 1945. Robert worked as a master mechanic and licensed electrician at Deerfield Specialty Papers in Monroe Bridge and retired as the maintenance superintendent at the plant on Aug. 1, 1983. Robert was a communicant of St. Joachim Church in Readsboro and a former member of its Holy Name Society. He was an avid hunter and a member of the NRA. He was a member of the Readsboro Band for many years until it disbanded in the 1970's. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #29 in Readsboro for over 60 years. Survivors include his wife, the former T. Rose Andognini whom he married Nov. 22, 1945; two daughters, Kathleen Whitney, and her husband, James, of North Adams, Mass., and Diane Reeves of Pittsfield, Mass.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Reynolds, Christopher Whitney, and Christine Reeves Miller; three great-grandchildren, William Reynolds, Sarah Reynolds, and Connor Miller; a sister-in-law, Lena Codogni, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Four sisters and two brothers are deceased, including Mildred Marchegiani, Jennie Baruzzi, Blanche Suprenant, Rose Cramer, and Peter and Joseph Codogni. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Robert Codogni will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro. Burial will be in the spring in Village Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
