Robert Francis Pecor 1937-2008 STAMFORD Robert Francis Pecor, 71, of 900 Main Rd. Stamford, Vt., died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams, Mass. on May 1, 1937, a son of the late Dolphus and Minnie K. Dolle Pecor, he grew up in Clarksburg and was a graduate of Center School in Clarksburg and Drury High School in North Adams, Mass. with the class of 1955. He was employed at the Sun Printing Corp. in Pittsfield, Mass. for a year and a half before enlisting in the Army. He served in the Army from August 1957 to 1960 spending two and a half years at Tompkins barracks in Schwetzengen Germany with the 656th Engineer Battalion (TOPO) Company B. Following his discharge he worked at Sprague Electric Co. for 30 years. He also worked at Yankee Atomic Electric Co. briefly until the shut down was announced and retired from North Adams Regional Hospital in 1999. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, history, walking with his dog and spending time with family especially the grandchildren who he was often a caregiver for in recent years. He looked forward to the reunions started in 1995 with friends from his military service in Germany. He moved to Stamford, Vt. in 1963 and served as town constable when first moving to town. He was also a volunteer fireman of the Town of Stamford. He was a former member of the Hairpin Turner Square Dancing Club and was involved with the youth baseball teams and the club scouts in the mid seventies. He leaves his wife, Sheila Blood Pecor. whom he married June 10, 1961; two sons, Darryl M. Pecor of Stamford., and Dana M. Pecor and his wife, Theresa, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren, Robert M. Pecor and Taylor-Elise M. Pecor of Stamford; a sister, Marjorie Pecor of Clarksburg, Mass.; and a brother, Gerald Pecor and his wife, Carole, of Clarksburg, Mass.; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Wesley Pecor; a sister-in-law, Charmion; and a nephew, Stephen Pecor. FUNERAL NOTICE: At Robert's request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Stamford Community Church in Stamford. Burial will be private in Millard Cemetery. Omission of flowers is requested. Donations are suggested for the Stamford Volunteer Fire Department or the Stamford Community Library to be used for children's programs in his memory through the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, Mass.
