BENNINGTON -- Mr. Robert G. Sears Sr., 85, a resident of Mountain View Park, died Saturday, July 1, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness.

He was born in North Adams, Mass., March 27, 1921.

He was the son of the late Frederick and Hermeline (Bruso) Sears. Robert received his education in Bennington.

A World War II veteran, Mr. Sears served in the United States Navy.

For 40 years, Bob was employed at the Polygraphic Co. in North Bennington. He later worked as a security guard at Mount Lake Park in Lake Wales, Fla.

He was a Life Member of the Moose Family Center in Bennington.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and William Lorette of North Bennington; a son, Robert G. Sears Jr. of Bennington; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alvin Sears of North Adams, Mass.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rose D. White and Viola Mitchell.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 5, at 1 p.m.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service. The burial with military honors will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
