Robert L. Hilchey 1928 - 2010 BENNINGTON, VT Robert L. Hilchey, 82, a longtime resident of Safford St. in Bennington, and more recently of Arlington, died Monday, July 26, 2010, at his residence in Arlington, surrounded by his family and friends, following a brief illness. Born at the family home on Safford Street in Bennington on Feb. 12, 1928, son of Walter and Freda Baker Hilchey, Bob received his education in Bennington. Bob served in the Army during World War II. He married the former Shirley Thompson of Bondville on Aug. 24, 1950. In earlier years, Bob was employed at Polygraphic, UST and Marty Moores Greenhouse. He also owned and operated Hilchey's Courier Service with his wife. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. Bob could be seen riding his yellow moped all over Bennington for many years. He continually was helping others with whatever they needed and took great pride in helping maintain the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He leaves his wife, Shirley Hilchey of Arlington; their children, Gary Hilchey of Bennington, Lynn Dupuis of Wilmington, Sandi Hagadorn of Cambridge, N.Y., Glenn Hilchey of Lexington, N.C., Wendi McCauley of Arlington, and Chris Hilchey of North Adams, Mass.; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Welch and Adelaide Fraser, and three brothers, Ronald Morse, Walt Hilchey and Steve Hilchey. He was also predeceased by three grandchildren. MEMORIAL NOTICE: A celebration of Bob's life was held from the family home at 1311 East Arlington Road in Arlington on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at 4 p.m. and was attended by more than 300 of his closest family and friends. A talk highlighting Bob's life was given by his close friend Bob Murch. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Robert L.
