Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Mr. Robert J. Andrew, 59, a resident of Gage Street, died unexpectedly Saturday, July, 16, 2005.

He was born in Bennington, Nov. 19, 1945. He was the son of Harold E. “Andy” Andrew and Arlene Crowley. Bob received his education in Bennington and was a 1964 graduate of Bennington High School. Following high school Bob joined the United States Army Reserve where he served for two years.

He married the former Linda Cross July 17, 1992 in Hoosick, N.Y.

In earlier years Bob was employed by the Steel Workers Labor Union in Pittsfield, Mass. He then went to work at Johnson Controls in Bennington where he worked for 18 years. Following Johnson Controls’ closing Bob went to work for Stroffoleno Drywall and Primary Painting and Staining. For the last several years he has been employed at Greenberg’s in Bennington.

He was a former member of the Bennington Moose Lodge and the Mount Anthony Lodge of Masons. Bob was a member of the Mount Anthony Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. Bob played on several local men’s softball teams over the years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid New York Giants fan. Bob was a sports enthusiast and followed many of the Mount Anthony High School teams, especially wrestling.

Survivors include his wife Linda Andrew of Bennington; two sons, Robert B. Andrew of Williamstown, Mass., and Jason G. Bushee of North Pownal; two stepdaughters, Laura and Alexis Kane, both of Bennington; his father, Harold E. “Andy” Andrew and his stepmother, Marian Andrew; his mother, Arlene Crowley of Bennington. Two granddaughters, Mariah Andrew of Pownal and Sara Andrew of Bennington; a brother, Donald Andrew, and his wife, Sylvia, of Pownal. Three half-sisters, Margaret Conquest and Colleen North of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and Patricia Kinney of Bennington. Two half-brothers, Brian and George Crowley both of Bennington; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Mark Andrew, and a half-sister, Maureen Crowley.

A memorial service will be held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday July 21, 2005 at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

A memorial gathering will take place at the Bennington Moose lodge on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.
